I adore Terrain Garden Cafe.
I have been here a few times now, both with family and friends - and I truly think it is one of the best breakfast experiences in Fairfield County, CT. Everything from the delicious bread that is delivered in a flower pot, to the homemade butter that changes with the season - you can not go wrong ordering anything on the menu, especially for brunch. I love to order the Breakfast Board (two eggs, applewood smoked bacon, maple breakfast sausage, potato hash, dressed greens & grilled sourdough toast) and enjoy many other small plates, including the Lioni burrata and the croquettes. Any beverage you order is hand crafted. My mother loved her Bloody Mary - and I enjoyed my hibiscus tea. If you are coming with a party larger than 2, I would recommend getting a reservation to ensure that you have a table, as they fill up QUICK!
All in all, if you want to have a relaxing morning and splurge a little bit- treat yourself to Terrain! It's like you stepped into the botanical gardens, and it's beautiful all year long! -

The focal point of Terrain is never the food - it's the space - you step into a garden wonderland with beautiful plants, house goods, wreathes you name it - the place itself is breathtaking to walk around and browse. Pricey if you actually want to buy. They have an eclectic collection of things for your house, high end skin care, cook books, plants etc. I love spending 20 mins decorating my imaginary dream house with all the beautiful things this place has to offer. Great place to bring people visiting for the weekend.
We came here for brunch on a Sunday with some friends, the food is okay - standard brunch fare. We got: an arugula salad with grilled peaches and croutons, the dressing was good the croutons weren't very crunch so didn't blend well with the salad, my friend got the omelette and another friend got the California Benedict. It was all okay nothing to write home about from a food perspective.
Come for the space and window shopping, food is just okay. -

Had a lovely lunch indoors because all the garden tables were taken. The garden was our 1st choice but it 1st come, 1st serve and we were too hungry to wait.
My lunch choice was the Panko fried avocado with grilled mushrooms, greens & chicken. It was ok...no complaints but one & done. Won't order again. It was healthy & it filled me up.
The other plate was a peach salad w/ croutons, greens and chicken. This was a definite bad choice, the peaches were hard with no flavor and the greens were just that greens with croutons and chicken. The chicken on both salads was quite tender & tasty.
Lemonade was home made and delicious.
We ended with delicious brewed fresh coffee's and shared a pistachio cake to die for!
So good we ordered a piece to take home!
Dense rich moist and delicious! -

I wish I could give Terrain more than 5 stars for the ambiance alone, so so happy to have discovered this gem! We came in here for dinner with a large-ish group on a Thursday but I had made a reservation in advance so there was no issue getting seated. Got to take a little walk around the shop before they closed at 7:00pm and then enjoyed an awesome dinner afterwards.
We started out with a cheeseboard for the table along with two orders of Crispy Chickpeas. Both are great apps, the chickpeas are definitely a very unique dish. And of course the bread in a flower pot is pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen, not to mention the bread being delicious. The butter is great here too, apparently they have a different type of butter every day.
For my main course, I got the Roasted Chicken Breast (with cardamom spiced farro, green tomato harissa, pickled radish, fresh garbanzo). The dish was not only photogenic but super fresh and healthy. The only issue I had with it is that I found the flavors to be a bit bland, it could definitely use some more seasoning. -

I can't say the food was the priority here, unlike most of my reviews. The ambiance is the kicker, the real reason to come to a place like this.
We came, and were seated rather quickly, but it didn't matter as we perused the garden center and enjoyed the afternoon.
Since we were here for brunch, the obvious go-to for me was with 2 eggs, bacon, and homefries. 2/3 of these items are easy, no-brainers. The third, homefries I cannot seem to find made well unless it is in my kitchen with altogether too much butter, or at the late Jimmy's Diner on Route 7 in Norwalk. So, I would give a 3/5 for the food.
But, everyone was nice, accommodating, and it was great to be able to enjoy the nice spring/summer weather outside. I will be back and hopefully I can find a 4/5 or 5/5 dish to eat, as I am sure there is one on the menu!
